Jakarta Cooperates with Blora Regency for Meat Supply

Perumda Dharma Jaya collaborates with Blora Regency, Central Java in selling cattle as a commitment to expand in meeting the needs of livestock and processed beef products in Jakarta. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the cooperation was signed by Perumda Dharma Jaya President Director Raditya Endra Budiman and Blora Regency KUD Wargo Tani Head Sukono.

I think it needs support from areas outside Jakarta since the cooperation benefits both parties

The signing was witnessed by Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency Head Suharini Eliawati and Blora Regent Arief Rohman.

Jakarta KPKP Agency Head Suharini Eliawati mentioned that the cooperation was not only related to meat supply but also livestock. In Central Java, the cattle population in Blora is the largest with around 270,000 heads.

Meanwhile, the beef demand in Jakarta reached 274 tons a week for households, meaning that Blora Regency has great potential, while the Jakarta Government is preparing its market.

"We are also aware that Blora is an area free from Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD). That is one of the important points that drives us to continue the cooperation," she conveyed, Wednesday (5/25).

She stated that the collaboration was not only for the benefit of the Jakarta people but also for the welfare of farmers in the Blora Regency.

Her side and Perumda Dharma Jaya were also willing to assist in maintaining the quality of animals and beef, including in producing good processed livestock products for farmer groups in Blora Regency.

Blora Regency's great potential in the livestock sector, she assessed, could support food security programs in Jakarta, such as subsidized cheap food.

"I think it needs support from areas outside Jakarta since the cooperation benefits both parties," she expressed.

She also welcomed Blora Regency's plan to build a slaughterhouse to support the meat supply to Jakarta. The slaughterhouse was also expected to create job opportunities for prospective local workers in the region.

"If they want to open RPH in there, of course, it will benefit Jakarta," she added.

Perumda Dharma Jaya President Director, Raditya Endra Budiman added that cattle in Blora Regency have high potential and the quality has met the standards.

However, he expected improvement in the uniformity of cattle supplied to Jakarta. With the number of communal farms in Blora, he hoped there would be standardized feed and treatment for all livestock.

"We hope the cooperation can continue and develop, not just limited to cattle supply, but also to support the needs of other commodities in Jakarta," he said.

Blora Regent Arief Rohman welcomed the collaboration between Perumda Dharma Jaya and KUD Wargo Tani.

The cattle population in Blora hasn't been managed massively, but only for household needs. There are a total of 200 communal breeders in Blora. Currently, his side is intensively promoting communal farms together with cooperatives and villages through Bumdes.

"We are also cooperating with universities to assist farmers thus the specifications of their cattle are by Jakarta's needs," he uttered.

He assessed that the Blora Regency's seriousness to develop livestock potential must be accompanied by market availability. Jakarta is considered the most prospective area because the meat demand is very high.

"The cooperation helped to meet Jakarta's need for meat and improve Blora's economy," he closed.
